Jonn Martell is an experienced Project Manager and instructor with over 20 years experience in computer networking and IT. He has held a number of project management and architecture leadership roles in large network and IT projects.

As Project Manager, Jonn completed the UBC Wireless Wi-Fi network which spans all UBC campuses. The University of BC is the largest university in western Canada. The main campus WiFi network is one of the largest campus wireless networks in the world with over 20000 unique high speed wireless users. The deployment has been a model for other large scale public and enterprise wireless network deployments. The network supports a basic wireless network and a more advanced, enterprise grade, secure WiFi using WPA/WPA2 with the use of wireless virtual LANs.

In 2004/2005, Jonn also managed the project to deploy the large enterprise Voice over IP (VOIP) system at UBC. The fast-tracked project delivered a Cisco VOIP system fully integrated with the Nortel/Octel campus telephone system. The new VOIP system is being used in all new buildings on campus.

Jonn has experience in customer service, architecture, system administration, network administration, network security, web development and video conferencing.

Jonn is an instructor and IT course developer for the Technology Programs at UBC Continuing Studies, BCIT and for commercial clients. He has over 20 years experience in teaching and curriculum development specifically in IT and networking. He holds a number of industry certifications and is PMP certified.

Jonn is Principal with Martell Consulting which specializes in Wireless LANs, VOIP, mobility applications and emerging technologies with focus on meeting business needs and alignment.
